The next version of the Half-Life Of Horrors Mod is ready for testing. The Gauss gun is fixed, plus I have added a few more goodies. Please note that this is still in test or beta stage, so please don't be surprised if you find a bug or two, however, if you do find something wrong, please let us know!

Greetings fellow fraggers, this is the spot for everything that has to do with the server side HLDM mod that we run on our servers here at SunLit's Games.
As you have probably noticed, we tend to mix things up a bit on the server. We have made many options configurable through the server config file, and that means we can make changes on the fly to keep things lively for all of you players out there.
Down below, you will find a breakdown of just what our mod does and does not do.

Mod Download Information

The current version of the mod available for download is v0.4. There are older versions available also for any of you nostalgic folks out there.


Mod Specifications

The following is a breakdown of some of the features that are included in the mod, and which servers run them standard. Some things may be left out either by faulty memory, or to keep some amount of surprise in the game.

Faster firing Glock with scope. S
Increased MP5 ammo capacity, and faster firing. C
Faster firing and reloading shotgun with tighter pellet spread. S
Spawn with Shotgun as default weapon. C
Egon (Gauss) Gun is booby trapped. C
RPG drops bombs as it soars through the air. C
Configurable ammo capacity for all weapons. C
You can now set which weapons you start with, even all of them! C
Any weapons can be disabled so it doesn't show up in the game. C
Tripmines have two modes, standard and proximity. S
Tripmine beam color is configurable. C
Hornet gun has a few surprises. S
Grenades launch contact grenades as secondary attack. S
Satchel charges have been tweaked, they don't disappear when you die, and you can pick up more while you have some deployed! S
You can specify an amount of armour to spawn with. C
Wall health chargers give health faster. S
Crowbar Rumble mode!!! This makes all of the other weapons disappear so it's corwbars all the way around ... C
Target name appears when you have them in your sites. S
Right clicking while holding 10 or more Snarks teleports you to random locations on the map and takes away 10 Snarks. C

  • Where do I put the files?

    The file hl.dll replaces the existing hl.dll. This is usually in the valvedlls directory. If you are running the dedicated server from the Half-Life Single Player cd it is most likely in C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\YOUREMAIL\half-life\valve\dlls ... however, if you downloaded the dedicated server only package, it is probably in C:\HLServer\valve\dlls.

    The audio files included in the zip file [v0.3 only] go into \valve\sound\weapons.


  • Does this mod work with CounterStrike or TFC?

    No, sorry. This is for Half-Life Death Match only. However, you never know, we might move into one of those in the future.


  • What OS is the current mod for?

    The version of the mod that we currently have available for download is for Window$ versions of Half-Life.


  • Will there be a Linux version of the mod?

    Yes, hopefully. We don't have a Linux version yet, but with a little time and luck, we hope to have a Linux version ported sometime in the future.
